Ben Stiller’s production companies, Red Hour Films and Rivulet Films, are collaborating once again on a new comedy film called The Dink, centered around the sport of pickleball. The movie stars Jake Johnson as a former tennis player who reluctantly takes up pickleball in order to save a struggling club and win his father’s approval. The supporting cast includes Mary Steenburgen and Ed Harris, with appearances from Ben Stiller and former tennis star Andy Roddick.

Directed by Josh Greenbaum and based on a screenplay by Sean Clements, production for The Dink is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in November. This project marks Ben Stiller’s return to acting since 2017, as he has mostly focused on directing and producing in recent years. The film Nutcrackers, their previous collaboration, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was later acquired by Hulu.

Jake Johnson is represented by UTA, Ben Stiller by WME, Mary Steenburgen by UTA and Entertainment 360, Ed Harris by CAA, and Josh Greenbaum by UTA and Entertainment 360. Sean Clements is also represented by UTA. The comedic storyline and talented cast involved in The Dink are generating excitement among fans and industry professionals alike, making it a highly anticipated project in the entertainment world.

Pickleball, a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, has been gaining popularity in recent years, with more people of all ages and skill levels taking up the game. The Dink’s focus on pickleball as a central theme is likely to appeal to a wide audience, especially sports enthusiasts and fans of light-hearted comedies. The movie’s unique premise and star-studded cast are expected to attract a lot of attention and interest leading up to its release.

Ben Stiller’s successful track record in producing and directing comedy films, combined with the comedic talents of Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris, bode well for The Dink’s potential success at the box office. The film’s heartwarming storyline about second chances, family relationships, and the pursuit of one’s passion resonates with audiences, making it a relatable and engaging viewing experience. With production set to begin soon, fans can look forward to more updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses of The Dink as it progresses.

The collaboration between Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films and Rivulet Films has proven to be a winning combination, with their previous project Nutcrackers receiving positive reviews and a distribution deal with Hulu. The team’s ability to create entertaining and engaging content, paired with their commitment to high-quality production values, positions The Dink as a promising addition to their portfolio of successful films. As anticipation builds for this upcoming pickleball comedy, industry insiders are eager to see how the project unfolds and how it contributes to the ever-evolving landscape of comedic cinema.
