Barq Al Atam Claims Thrilling Lehwaila Cup Victory
Barq Al Atam demonstrated a strong early pace, quickly establishing a leading position after a sharp break. He briefly relinquished the lead to Doghan before confidently regaining control and setting a demanding tempo throughout much of the race. This proactive approach proved crucial in the final stretch.
As the field approached the home turn, Ghafan began a determined move, steadily gaining ground and challenging for second place. The two horses entered the final furlong neck and neck, intensifying the competition for the Lehwaila Cup.
A Close Finish
Ghafan, under the guidance of Pierre Charles Boudot, briefly surged ahead inside the last 150 meters, appearing poised to take the lead. However, Barq Al Atam responded with remarkable resilience, digging deep to rally in the closing strides.
In a dramatic finish, Barq Al Atam thrust his head forward just as they crossed the finish line, securing a hard-fought victory by a mere head. The close margin underscored the competitive nature of the race and the determination of both horses.
Mutamarrid, representing Injaaz Stud and trained by Jihad El Ahmad, finished a respectable third, staying on well from midfield. The performance of Mutamarrid adds to the growing depth of talent in Qatari horse racing.
The presentation of trophies was conducted by Rashid Saed Adiba, Head of QREC Racing Operations Section, recognizing the achievements of the winning connections.
