A Bahraini family has recently succeeded in correcting their identities after a long and arduous legal battle that spanned nearly 70 years. The family had faced struggles due to their ancestor arriving in Bahrain without proper documentation, resulting in them being granted citizenship under a different name and family name than their original one. However, after years of effort, they were able to reconnect with their relatives on their father’s side in a neighbouring Gulf country, where their ancestor originated.

Represented by lawyer Khawla Al Shamsi, the family was able to obtain a court ruling in the Gulf country allowing them to amend their names and their father’s name in their records. This ruling served as the basis for their case in Bahrain’s Lower Civil Court, which they filed after their father passed away. The plaintiffs sought to compel relevant government bodies to amend their birth certificates, passports, and smart cards, and to reflect these changes in official records.

The case was referred to a specialized committee as required by law, which recommended granting the plaintiffs’ request. The Lower Civil Court accepted this recommendation and ruled in favor of the family, officially correcting their identities. This victory marks the end of a lengthy legal process for the family, finally securing their rightful identities after years of hardship and struggle.

The successful outcome of the legal battle is a significant milestone for the family, bringing an end to their decades-long struggle to correct their identities. The ruling from the Lower Civil Court in Bahrain allows the family to have their names and surnames amended for themselves and their minor grandchildren. This decision is based on the well-reasoned report of the specialized committee, which recommended granting the plaintiffs’ request for the amendments.

The family’s journey to correct their identities involved extensive efforts to reconnect with their relatives on their father’s side and obtain necessary documentation from the Gulf country where their ancestor originated. After successfully identifying their extended family and obtaining a court ruling in the Gulf country, they were able to pursue their case in Bahrain and ultimately achieve a favorable outcome. The court’s decision to grant their request for official corrections to their identities is a validation of their perseverance and determination throughout the legal process.

The family’s victory in the legal battle highlights the importance of persistence and resilience in pursuing justice and correcting historical inaccuracies in official records. By successfully navigating the legal system and obtaining the necessary approvals and recommendations, the family has been able to finally secure their rightful identities after years of struggle. The ruling from the Lower Civil Court in Bahrain not only grants them the legal right to amend their names and surnames but also signifies a significant achievement in rectifying a long-standing issue that has affected multiple generations of the family.
