Bahrain is set to host the largest international school sports event in its history, the ISF Gymnasiade 2024, from October 23-31. Over 100 nations will compete across 26 sports, such as gymnastics, athletics, and wrestling, making Bahrain a global stage for young athletes. At a press conference held at the Bahrain National Stadium, top officials highlighted the significance of this event for Bahrain’s sporting and educational landscape.

Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, described the event as a celebration of youth, education, and sportsmanship. He emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to promoting sports and developing young minds through education. The hope is to uncover potential Olympic champions, as many past champions have emerged from competitions like the Gymnasiade.

Bahrain’s readiness to host the Gymnasiade was stressed by Mr. Ali Isa Ishaqi, who mentioned that key venues like the Bahrain International Circuit will play a crucial role. This event is seen as a great opportunity to showcase Bahrain’s sporting culture. Both officials expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his vision and support in making the event possible, positioning Bahrain as a host of major sporting events on the world stage.

The ISF Gymnasiade 2024 will feature a week of action-packed competitions in various sports like archery, beach volleyball, fencing, and taekwondo. The event kicks off with the Opening Ceremony on October 24 and ends with the Closing Ceremony on October 30. A detailed competition schedule ensures a week filled with excitement, from rhythmic gymnastics to para-swimming, offering participants and spectators a thrilling experience.

A designated Cultural Day on October 27 will allow athletes and attendees to explore Bahrain’s rich heritage through initiatives like Explore Bahrain. International visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the kingdom’s culture, enhancing their overall experience. Additional programs like Family & Friends and the Observer Program will further elevate the event’s atmosphere.

Global audiences can tune in to ISF TV for live streaming coverage of the Gymnasiade 2024, ensuring viewers worldwide can witness the high-speed action and elegant routines across various sports. As Bahrain eagerly anticipates the event, Mr. Ishaqi concluded the press conference by emphasizing that this moment is a pivotal milestone in Bahrain’s journey to becoming a sports beacon in the region, ready to make history.
