The Kingdom of Bahrain has seen a significant increase in tourist arrivals in 2023, with over 12.4 million visitors entering the country, as reported by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA). This marks a substantial growth of over 2.4 million compared to the previous year, showcasing the steady development of the tourism sector. Bahrain has been focusing on tourism development to solidify its position on the regional and global tourism map through various programs and events held throughout the year.

The statistics reveal a rise in tourist arrivals through King Fahd Causeway, Bahrain International Airport, and the seaport, indicating the sector’s strong performance. In 2022, the total number of tourist arrivals across all entry points was 9,948,632, while in 2023, the figure increased to 12,406,810, demonstrating a significant increase. December 2023 emerged as the peak month for tourist arrivals, welcoming a total of 1,219,739 visitors. King Fahd Causeway was the most popular entry point, receiving 1,060,274 tourists, followed by Bahrain International Airport with 120,982 and the seaport with 38,483.

On the other hand, February 2023 recorded the lowest number of tourist arrivals throughout the year, with a total of 922,790 visitors. In 2022, December also saw the highest number of tourist arrivals with 1,111,956 visitors. February, however, had the lowest number of arrivals with 390,916 visitors. The continuous growth in tourist arrivals highlights Bahrain’s success in attracting visitors from various regions, with its diverse offerings, including cultural attractions, historical sites, family-friendly activities, and world-class events contributing to its increasing popularity as a tourist destination.
