The Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Bahrain recently hosted a special event, “Half a Year To Go: OSAKA EXPO 2025” at the Gulf Convention Center, in celebration of Bahrain’s participation in the upcoming global event. The World Expo 2025 is set to take place in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, with the theme “Designing Future Society for our Lives.” Bahrain’s participation in the Expo will mark its fourth appearance at a World Expo, showcasing the kingdom’s commitment to global engagement and innovation.

Japanese Ambassador OKAI Asako commended Bahrain for its dedication to strengthening business partnerships between the two nations, emphasizing that the Expo will serve as an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and showcase Bahrain’s contributions on the global stage. The guest of honor at the event was HH Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al khalifa, Governor of the Southern Governorate. Nasser Al Arayedh, President of the Bahrain Japan Business & Friendship Society (BJBFS), highlighted the significance of the Expo for both countries and participating businesses, stressing the role of global events in fostering economic growth, cultural exchange, and technological advancement.

Earlier this year, Bahrain unveiled its pavilion for the Osaka Expo, designed by renowned architect Lina Ghotmeh. The pavilion is located in the “Empowering Lives” area, overlooking the sea, and draws inspiration from traditional Bahraini boats, reflecting the kingdom’s craftsmanship and manufacturing heritage. The design also pays homage to Japanese wood artistry, symbolizing the strong bilateral relations between Bahrain and Japan. The Expo will focus on three key sub-themes: “Saving Lives,” “Empowering Lives,” and “Connecting Lives,” aiming to attract over 28 million visitors and feature contributions from around 150 countries. Nations will exchange ideas and innovations to improve the future of humanity and celebrate their cultures through designated national days.

With the official countdown to the Osaka Expo 2025 underway, Bahrain is poised to leave a lasting impact with its visionary pavilion and contributions to the global conversation on “Designing Future Society for our Lives.” The Expo promises to be a platform for innovation and collaboration, offering participating countries the opportunity to showcase their unique traditions and values to a global audience. Bahrain’s continued participation in World Expos underscores its commitment to global engagement and its contribution to shaping the future of society. The Expo will not only facilitate economic opportunities but also foster cultural exchange and technological advancements, further strengthening the bond between Bahrain and Japan.
