The 22nd GCC Housing Ministers Meeting, led by Bahrain’s Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, focused on pivotal decisions for the region’s housing sector. Key initiatives were ratified, such as the Joint Gulf Housing Plan 2024–2030, aiming to strengthen social housing across GCC nations. The meeting also approved guides on sustainability, modern building technologies, real estate stimulus, and evaluating cities’ resilience, paving the way for a more sustainable future in GCC housing.

One significant outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a financial framework to encourage partnerships with private entities, boosting investment in the real estate sector and creating new opportunities for growth. Discussions also touched on housing information regulations, unified statutes for property owners, the Gulf Housing Week, and the upcoming third Gulf Housing Conference in Kuwait with a focus on “Applications and Technologies.”

Minister Al Rumaihi participated in the Gulf Housing Exhibition during Gulf Housing Week, highlighting Bahrain’s innovative “Bayti” real estate platform, land development rights program, and various housing finance options. She reiterated Bahrain’s commitment to the Joint Gulf Housing Action Plan for 2024–2030, recognizing its importance in enhancing the social housing sector through collaborative efforts. The Action Plan symbolizes the GCC’s united resolve to achieve common housing goals.

Furthermore, Minister Al Rumaihi showcased Bahrain’s proactive approach in delivering housing services to its citizens, utilizing comprehensive housing finance programs. She pledged to share Bahrain’s expertise and best practices to support the Gulf’s joint housing initiatives, including strategies in urban planning, housing project management, sustainability, and private sector integration. By actively participating in the GCC Housing Ministers Meeting and fostering regional cooperation, Bahrain emerges as a leader in shaping the future of housing in the region.

The initiatives endorsed and the collaborative spirit demonstrated at the meeting set a solid foundation for a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive housing sector throughout the GCC. With a focus on strategic partnerships, innovative technologies, and shared objectives, the region is poised to address key housing challenges and enhance the quality of life for its residents. Bahrain’s proactive role and commitment to regional collaboration underscore its dedication to advancing housing policies and practices in the GCC. As the GCC continues to prioritize housing development, the outcomes of the 22nd Housing Ministers Meeting in Doha mark a significant step towards achieving collective housing goals and fostering a prosperous future for the region.
