At least 15 injured in chemical attack and stabbing at Japan factory

A mass stabbing at a tyre factory in Mishima, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, on Friday left eight people injured and seven others suffering from burns, reportedly caused by bleach. A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Shizuoka prefectural police. The Japan stabbing incident at the Yokohama Rubber Company has prompted a large emergency response and raised questions about workplace security.

The attack occurred at the factory, which employs approximately 1,000 workers, west of Tokyo. Emergency services received a call and dispatched multiple ambulances and fire trucks to the location. Five of the stabbing victims are currently in serious condition, the Fujisan Nanto Fire Department reported.

The Yokohama Rubber Company has issued a statement expressing its shock and sadness over the incident. The company is cooperating fully with the police investigation and providing support to the victims and their families. Production at the factory has been temporarily suspended.
