The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ in Doha, Qatar has recently announced the inauguration of Street 33 in the Industrial Area after upgrading it into an expressway. The street, now 5km long, has been expanded to accommodate 16,000 vehicles per hour, with the addition of two new interchanges to connect to Al Kassarat Street and West Industrial Street. These improvements aim to provide seamless traffic flow from East Street 33 Interchange to West Industrial Street, benefiting those traveling from Doha to the Industrial Area.

Integrated with Industrial Area Road, Street 33 serves as a crucial link for traffic coming from Doha towards the Industrial Area, connecting to various streets and roads such as East Industrial Street, Al Kassarat Street, and West Industrial Street. This connectivity allows for easy access to Salwa Road and G-Ring Road, facilitating movement between the northern and southern parts of the Industrial Area and the New Industrial Area.

The two new interchanges on Street 33 play a vital role in improving traffic flow in the area. The interchange with Al Kassarat Street features a two-level structure with traffic signals and an overpass to ensure smooth traffic distribution. Similarly, the interchange with West Industrial Street offers enhanced connectivity for those traveling towards the Industrial Area from Doha, as well as for those coming from Salwa Road and G-Ring Road via Street 33.

In addition to the interchanges, new infrastructure has been put in place to support the upgraded Street 33. This includes water, electricity, and telecommunication systems, as well as upgraded sewage and rainwater drainage systems. The project highlights the strategic importance of the Industrial Area, with ongoing efforts to upgrade various roads and local streets to improve overall connectivity and accessibility in the area.

Eng. Bader Darwish, Manager of Highway Projects Department at ‘Ashghal’, emphasizes the significance of Street 33 in serving economic and industrial facilities in the Industrial Area. The project has also prioritized the use of national and locally manufactured materials, such as lighting bulbs, directional signs, and asphalt, showcasing a commitment to supporting local industries and resources.

Eng. Nouh Al Joof from the Highway Projects Department emphasizes the benefits of the upgraded Street 33 in improving traffic flow and providing uninterrupted travel experience through the area. With the new interchanges and enhanced capacity, the street is expected to alleviate congestion and enhance connectivity between different areas within the Industrial Zone, ultimately supporting economic growth and development in the region.
