Apple is ramping up its production of iPhones for the upcoming year, focusing on its Pro and Pro Max models. According to recent reports by GSM Arena, the tech giant plans to manufacture around 90.1 million iPhones in 2024, a slight increase from last year’s target of 86.2 million units. This production strategy highlights a shift towards higher-end models, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max expected to make up a significant portion of the total production mix, with plans to produce 33.2 million units, representing 37 per cent of the total.

Compared to last year’s production numbers, this marks a considerable increase for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Similarly, the production of iPhone 16 Pro models is set to rise to 26.6 million units, accounting for 30 per cent of the total iPhone 16 production. This increase from the previous year reflects Apple’s response to consumer demands for higher-end smartphones, which typically offer higher profit margins. In contrast, the non-Pro variants will see a more modest increase in production, with the standard iPhone 16 expected to rise to 24.5 million units, up from 21.8 million last year.

On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Plus will see a reduction in production, with only 5.8 million units planned for manufacturing. This decline from the 8.5 million units of the iPhone 15 Plus produced last year suggests a shift in focus towards the Pro and Pro Max models. This strategic move aligns with consumer preferences for premium smartphones and highlights Apple’s ability to adapt to evolving market demands and trends. With the anticipated debut of the iPhone 16 series on September 10, 2024, these production adjustments reflect Apple’s commitment to meeting consumer needs and maintaining its position as a leading smartphone manufacturer.

Overall, Apple’s decision to increase production of its Pro and Pro Max models for the upcoming year is a strategic response to the growing consumer demand for higher-end smartphones. By focusing on models that offer premium features and higher profit margins, Apple aims to capitalize on shifting market trends and maintain its competitive edge in the smartphone industry. The production adjustments also reflect Apple’s ability to anticipate and adapt to changing consumer preferences, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of innovation and continues to meet the needs of its global customer base. As the iPhone 16 series is set to launch in September 2024, these production changes position Apple for success in the ever-evolving smartphone market.
