The Sultanate of Oman recently hosted the annual conference of the Dutch Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (ANVR) in collaboration with the Dutch Travel Association. The event, which brought together 185 companies representing the tourism sector in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was aimed at showcasing Oman as a prime travel destination for tourism and media companies in the Dutch market.

The opening ceremony of the conference was held under the auspices of Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism, with the Dutch Ambassador in attendance. This conference served as a platform to introduce Dutch tourism companies to Oman’s unique tourist attractions, experiences, and heritage sites, providing a comprehensive overview to companies that will play a role in promoting Oman as a travel destination.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism highlighted the importance of events like this conference in strengthening collaboration with Dutch tourism companies to attract tourists from target markets, exchange knowledge and expertise, and foster partnerships with counterpart companies in Oman. The number of tourists visiting Oman from the Kingdom of the Netherlands has been on the rise, with 18,164 visitors in 2023 and 11,341 visitors from January to September 2024. This demonstrates the increasing interest in Oman as a travel destination among Dutch travelers.

The conference provided an opportunity for participants to learn more about the unique offerings of Oman as a travel destination, including its diverse cultural heritage, historical sites, natural attractions, and luxury experiences. The Sultanate of Oman offers a wealth of opportunities for travelers seeking authentic and enriching experiences, from exploring ancient forts and traditional markets to relaxing on pristine beaches and diving in crystal-clear waters.

By connecting with Dutch travel companies and tour operators, Oman can further strengthen its position as a top travel destination and increase visitor numbers from the Netherlands. The conference was an important step towards fostering long-term collaborations and partnerships that will benefit both Oman’s tourism industry and Dutch companies looking to expand their offerings to include Oman in their travel packages.

Overall, the annual conference of the Dutch Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators hosted by the Sultanate of Oman was a successful event that showcased Oman’s potential as a must-visit travel destination. With the increasing number of Dutch tourists visiting Oman in recent years, the conference served as a valuable platform to promote Oman’s unique attractions, heritage sites, and experiences to key players in the Dutch travel industry. This event will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of Oman’s tourism sector and strengthen partnerships with Dutch companies in the years to come.
