‘An unknown person’ achieves it: Mithun Chakraborty on receiving Dadasaheb Phalke Award – News

Mithun Chakraborty, a veteran actor known for his movies such as Disco Dancer, has recently been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The three-time Indian National Award winner expressed his gratitude, stating that he never imagined that a boy from the footpath could receive such a big honour. He dedicated the award to his family and fans who have supported him throughout his journey, inspiring others to chase their dreams regardless of their background.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is the highest government honour bestowed upon individuals for their contributions to the field of cinema. The announcement of Chakraborty receiving the award was made by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on social media, praising the legendary actor for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. The award will be presented to Chakraborty at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Mithun Chakraborty on the honour, recognizing him as a cultural icon admired across generations for his versatile performances. Fondly referred to as ‘Mithun Da’ by his fans, he made his film debut in 1976 and has since captivated audiences with his acting skills. Beyond his acting prowess, Chakraborty has also made a significant mark in the music industry with his electrifying dance numbers, becoming a beloved figure in Indian cinema.

Chakraborty’s journey from a humble background to becoming a celebrated star in Bollywood is an inspiration to many, proving that with determination and hard work, anyone can achieve their dreams. His iconic performances in films like Mrigayaa, Tahader Katha, and Swami Vivekananda have earned him multiple National Film Awards, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Additionally, his electrifying dance numbers like ‘I Am a Disco Dancer’ and ‘Jimmy Jimmy’ have become iconic hits loved by fans across generations.
