Ahmed Alaaeldin of Al Gharafa became the hero of yesterday’s match against Al Ahli, scoring the extra-time winner in a thrilling 4-3 victory. Despite trailing by two goals twice in the match, Al Gharafa showed great resilience, especially in the second half, to secure their spot in the quarter-finals of the Amir Cup. They will now face Umm Salal in the next round after their victory over Al Bidda.

The match saw Al Ahli take the lead with goals from Naim Sliti and Yazan Al Nuaimat, but Al Gharafa fought back with a stunning long-range shot from Fabrizio Diaz and goals from Farid Boulaya and Ferjani Sassi to equalize. It was Alaaeldin’s header in extra time that sealed the victory for Al Gharafa, as they celebrated a hard-fought win over their opponents.

In another Round of 16 clash, Al Rayyan will take on Second Division champions Al Khor in a bid to finally win a trophy this season. Despite finishing as runners-up in both the Expo Stars League and Qatar Cup, Al Rayyan coach Leonardo Jardim is determined to lead his team to victory in the Amir Cup and end their streak of second-place finishes.

Al Sadd, who fell short in the Qatar Cup after a loss to Al Wakrah, are also eyeing the Amir Cup title as they face off against Al Markhiya. Coach Wesam Rizk emphasized the team’s desire to win the trophy and make amends for their previous defeat. On the other hand, Al Markhiya coach Madjid Bougherra sees this competition as an opportunity for his team to showcase their abilities and potentially upset a stronger opponent.

Meanwhile, Al Wakrah, fresh off their Qatar Cup win, will look to continue their success as they take on Muaither in another Round of 16 clash. The anticipation for these matches is high, with both teams eager to make an impact in the prestigious Amir Cup tournament. With high morale and confidence among the players, fans can expect an exciting display of football as the competition heats up.

Overall, the Amir Cup Round of 16 matches have provided fans with thrilling moments and unexpected twists as teams battle it out for a chance to lift the prestigious trophy. As the competition progresses, the stakes continue to rise, and teams are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for victory. With Al Gharafa, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, and Al Wakrah among the contenders, football enthusiasts can look forward to witnessing some intense matches and remarkable performances in the upcoming rounds of the tournament.
