Ambassadors praise Amir for impressive speech at UNGA

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Qatar, H E Neerav Patel, praised Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech at the 79th UNGA for highlighting Qatar’s commitment to responsible international leadership. He emphasized Qatar’s dedication to working with the global community through the United Nations and upholding international law. The Ambassador called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a humanitarian effort to address the dire situation in the region. He also acknowledged Qatar’s unwavering commitment to mediation and its vital contributions to international peace and stability, from Venezuela to Ukraine.

Ambassador of Spain to Qatar H E Javier Carbajosa Sanchez echoed similar sentiments, stating that Qatar’s speech showed deep concern for the violence in Gaza and Lebanon. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and condemned Israeli’s bombardments in Lebanon. The Ambassador supported the establishment of an independent Palestinian State as a fundamental step towards peace in the Middle East. Spain recently recognized the Palestinian State and is advocating for an International Peace Conference to achieve a two-State solution.

On the other hand, Ambassador of Thailand to Qatar H E Sira Swangsilpa praised the Amir’s speech for emphasizing Qatar’s commitment to promoting enduring peace and sustainable development, particularly in conflict-affected regions. He highlighted Qatar’s role as a trusted mediator, a development partner, and a provider of humanitarian assistance. Thailand commended Qatar’s dedication to sustainable development and peaceful conflict resolution in accordance with the UN Charter. Both countries share aligned foreign policy goals in advancing sustainable development and promoting enduring peace through diplomacy and dialogue.

Ambassador of the Philippines to Qatar H E Lillibeth V. Pono also commended Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech for resonating with the Philippines’ policy of resolving disputes through peaceful means and upholding international law. She reaffirmed the importance of the rules-based international order in finding solutions to global crises. Together with Qatar, the Philippines supports the primacy of international law in resolving conflicts. The Ambassador highlighted the importance of the rule of law in addressing the various crises facing the world today.

In conclusion, the Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Spain, Thailand, and the Philippines expressed their support for Qatar’s commitment to responsible international leadership, mediation, and humanitarian assistance. They praised Qatar’s efforts in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development globally. The ambassadors highlighted the importance of upholding international law and the rule of law in resolving conflicts and crises. They affirmed their countries’ partnership with Qatar in advancing common foreign policy goals and promoting global peace and stability. This collaborative effort aims to create a better future for all nations and the international community.
