Amazon Prime members in the United Arab Emirates can now receive free fuel delivery as part of their membership benefits. The new partnership with CAFU, a regional on-demand fuel service, provides subscribers with a set number of complimentary fuel deliveries each month, aiming to enhance convenience for drivers. This service is currently available in Dubai, with plans for wider rollout across the UAE.

The offer, accessible through www.amazon.ae/cafu, includes two free standard deliveries and five free overnight deliveries per month for a registered vehicle. Amazon states the benefit is valued at approximately Dh400 annually, representing a significant addition to the existing Prime membership perks. This move underscores a growing trend of bundled services within subscription models.

Expanding Convenience with Amazon Fuel Delivery

The collaboration between Amazon and CAFU addresses the increasing demand for time-saving services in the UAE’s fast-paced environment. CAFU, launched in 2018, pioneered on-demand fuel delivery in the region, utilizing a fleet of specialized vehicles to bring fuel directly to consumers. This eliminates the need to visit traditional petrol stations, a benefit particularly appealing to busy professionals and families.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, highlighted the convenience factor, stating the service allows customers to avoid interruptions to their schedules. He also emphasized the value proposition, noting the benefit exceeds five times the monthly Prime membership fee. This is a key strategy for Amazon, which has been aggressively expanding its Prime offerings to justify the subscription cost.

How the Service Works

Prime members can access the fuel delivery service through the CAFU mobile application. The app allows users to specify their vehicle location – including parking areas at shopping malls, offices, and residential buildings – and schedule a delivery. CAFU handles all aspects of the delivery, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

The service is designed to be seamless and user-friendly. Users register their vehicle details once, and subsequent orders can be placed with just a few taps. CAFU also offers additional vehicle services, such as car washes and roadside assistance, which may be available to Prime members at discounted rates.

Rashid Al Ghurair, Founder and CEO of CAFU, described the partnership as a natural extension of their mission to simplify car ownership. He believes the collaboration will redefine mobility services in the UAE and beyond. CAFU has been actively expanding its service area and offerings since its inception.

The UAE has a high rate of vehicle ownership, and a growing preference for digital services. According to recent statistics from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai, the number of registered vehicles continues to rise annually. This creates a substantial market for convenient services like on-demand petrol delivery.

Amazon Prime membership in the UAE currently costs Dh16 per month or Dh140 per year. Beyond the new CAFU benefit, members enjoy free same-day and one-day delivery on eligible items, international shipping options from Amazon US, UK, and Germany, exclusive deals, access to Amazon Fresh, and a Deliveroo Plus Silver subscription. The inclusion of CAFU further strengthens the value proposition of the Prime program.

This partnership is part of a broader trend of e-commerce companies integrating with local service providers to offer a more comprehensive customer experience. Similar collaborations have been seen in other markets, where companies are bundling services like grocery delivery, streaming entertainment, and now, fuel delivery, into subscription packages.

While the initial rollout is limited to Dubai, Amazon and CAFU have announced plans to expand the service to Sharjah and other emirates in the coming months. The timeline for this expansion remains uncertain, dependent on logistical considerations and regulatory approvals. The success of the Dubai launch will likely influence the speed and scope of the nationwide rollout.

Looking ahead, the companies will likely monitor usage patterns and customer feedback to optimize the service. Potential future developments could include integration with Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, and the addition of new vehicle services to the Prime membership bundle. The long-term impact of this partnership on the UAE’s fuel retail landscape remains to be seen.
