Doha, Qatar – The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) unveiled its new interactive digital game, “Journey of Safety,” this week in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The launch, timed to coincide with World Children’s Day on November 20th, aims to enhance child safety awareness among young students through engaging digital learning. The game is now accessible through the Qatar Education Platform, offering a new resource for educators and parents.

The initiative was inaugurated with the presence of Omar Abdulaziz Al-Namaa, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and representatives from various partner organizations. A dedicated pavilion showcasing “Journey of Safety” has been established at Qatar Foundation and will be open to visitors, particularly coordinated school groups, until November 20th, according to Aman officials.

Boosting Child Safety Through Interactive Gaming

“Journey of Safety” is designed for children aged 4 to 8 and utilizes a game-based learning approach to impart crucial social protection skills. The game guides players through recognizable Qatari landmarks while presenting safety-related scenarios and educational messages. This method aims to make learning about personal safety more approachable and memorable for young children.

Focus on Digital Literacy and Prevention

Aman’s Acting Executive Director, Fadel bin Mohammed Al-Kaabi, emphasized the center’s dedication to innovative programs for children. He also highlighted how the launch aligns with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy, which prioritizes digital transformation as a key driver for social progress. According to Al-Kaabi, this initiative underscores the importance of a collective, cross-sectoral approach including education and healthcare, to safeguard the well-being of future generations.

Bakhita Al-Ghiathin, Director of Community Awareness at Aman, explained that the game aims to enhance children’s comprehension of social protection measures. It also teaches them how to navigate potentially dangerous situations both at home and in public spaces, while simultaneously fostering positive personal skills like assertiveness and problem-solving. However, the success of a digital game depends on active participation from schools and families.

The game’s accessibility is a key feature. Hanan Al-Ali, Director of the Communication and Media Office at Aman, confirmed that “Journey of Safety” is readily available to all public and private schools through the Qatar Education Platform. This centralized access point is intended to maximize the game’s reach and impact across the country’s educational system. Additionally, Aman is working on follow-up resources to assist educators in integrating the game into their curriculum.

The development of this game represents a growing trend towards leveraging technology for preventative education in Qatar. In recent years, various organizations have introduced digital resources focused on topics ranging from cybersecurity to health awareness. Meanwhile, concerns about online safety and child exploitation continue to drive the demand for proactive educational tools.

Looking ahead, Aman plans to evaluate the impact of “Journey of Safety” through feedback collected from schools and students. The center will use this data to refine the game and potentially develop additional educational resources. A precise timeline for the evaluation and potential updates remains unclear, though officials have indicated a commitment to continuous improvement. The ongoing success of the program relies on continued collaboration between Aman, the Ministry of Education, and the broader community.
