53-year-old expat Prince MD Ali, living in Dubai away from his family in Bangladesh, recently experienced a life-threatening situation when he was gripped by sudden breathlessness. Thanks to the quick response of a team of medical specialists and timely intervention by hospital doctors, he was saved from sudden cardiac death. Dr Shaheen Ahmad, an interventional cardiologist at Zulekha Hospital Dubai, described Ali’s critical moment when he was rushed to the emergency room by the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS).

Ali was initially brought in with limited information, but the medical team immediately sprung into action, following advanced cardiovascular life support protocol. They were able to achieve a return of spontaneous circulation after intense resuscitation efforts, followed by intubation and mechanical ventilation. The diagnostic coronary angiography revealed a triple vessel disease, with the right coronary artery entirely blocked, putting Ali’s survival in jeopardy. However, prompt primary angioplasty to the right coronary artery saved his life.

In a rigorous procedure, the medical team meticulously removed the blood clot and restored native flow after stent deployment. Dr. Ahmad emphasized the importance of seamless teamwork from the emergency room to the cath lab, leading to a successful outcome for Ali. He also highlighted the misconception that heart attacks are mainly a concern for senior citizens, emphasizing that they can occur in younger age groups as well.

Now on the path to full recovery, Ali expressed deep gratitude to the ambulance team and medical staff at Zulekha Hospital Dubai. Despite the terrifying experience of being alone in a foreign land during a health crisis, Ali was comforted by the compassion and expertise of everyone involved. He credits their help in overcoming the ordeal and coming out stronger than ever. His message reflects a sentiment of unity and gratitude towards the healthcare professionals who saved his life.
