Qatar’s top-ranked squash player Abdulla Al Tamimi is set to face a tough challenge in his opening match against World No.2 Mostafa Asal at the upcoming Qatar QTerminals Classic 2024. The premier PSA and WSA World Series event is scheduled to take place in Doha on September 30, with Al Tamimi looking to make a strong statement in his ninth appearance at the tournament. Despite falling to Tarek Momen in the third round last year, Al Tamimi is determined to go further this time, but he will have his work cut out for him against the recent British Open champion Asal.

The men’s tournament will see a star-studded line-up, with World No.1 players Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini headlining the event. Farag, who is aiming to secure his fourth title in Doha, faces a tough field that includes almost all the top-ranked players in the PSA tour. Meanwhile, defending champion Diego Elias will be looking to carry his World Championships form into the Qatar Classic as he takes on Qatari wildcard entry Salem Al Malki in his opening match.

In the women’s tournament, defending champion Hania El Hammamy is eager to make a strong comeback after a challenging season last year. Currently ranked No. 3 in the world, El Hammamy will face off against USA’s Sabrina Sobhy as she aims to challenge El Sherbini for the top spot. El Sherbini, who has twice missed out on the Qatar title, will be looking to prove she is a top contender for the championship this time around.

The Qatar QTerminals Classic will also feature a highly competitive field, with players like Nouran Gohar, Joelle King, and Nele and Tinne Gilis set to showcase their skills on the court. The tournament promises to deliver thrilling clashes and high-level competition, with squash enthusiasts in Qatar eagerly anticipating a week of exciting matches. Participation in this exceptional edition of the Qatar Classic is highly anticipated, with fans eagerly awaiting the start of the tournament on September 30.
