The AFC Champions League Elite kicks off with 24 teams, including Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, and Al Gharafa from Qatar. The new competition features a revamped format with a Swiss League system, where each team will play eight group games. The top eight finishers from each region will advance to the knockout rounds in March, with the final scheduled for May 4, 2025. Al Sadd will face UAE’s Al Ain in their opening match, hoping to bounce back from a recent defeat in the Qatar league.

Despite their loss in the domestic league, Al Sadd coach Felix Sanchez is optimistic about his team’s chances in the AFC Champions League. He believes that his players are excited and determined to perform well in the prestigious competition. Midfielder Tarek Salman also expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure a victory against Al Ain, the reigning champions. The match against Al Ain will be a tough challenge, but Al Sadd is prepared to give their best performance.

On the other hand, Al Gharafa, led by coach Pedro Martins, is gearing up to face Esteghlal FC of Iran in their opening match. The team secured their place in the group stage after defeating Shabab Al Ahli in a play-off. Although their domestic form has been underwhelming, Martins is hopeful for a better performance in the AFC Champions League. Al Gharafa will be looking to start strong and secure three points in their match against Esteghlal FC.

Meanwhile, Al Rayyan will host Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia in their opening match, adding to the excitement of the AFC Champions League Elite kick-off. The competition promises to showcase some of Asia’s top football clubs in a new era of continental football. With the revamped format and highly competitive teams, fans can expect thrilling matches and fierce competition throughout the tournament. As Qatar’s teams look to make their mark in the competition, football enthusiasts are in for an electrifying experience following their favorite clubs in the AFC Champions League Elite.
