Al Rayyan’s Hazem Shehata recently scored a surprising long-range goal from over 40 yards, securing their first victory in the AFC Champions League Elite against Pakhtakor with a 1-0 win in Tashkent. This win lifted Al Rayyan to seventh place in the standings in the 12-team West Zone, giving them hope for advancement to the knockout stage. Despite Pakhtakor’s domination in most of the match, Shehata’s decisive goal proved to be the difference.

The Al Rayyan coach, Younes Ali, recognized the challenge posed by Pakhtakor and praised his team’s performance, especially in the second half. He emphasized the importance of every point in the race for the knockout stage and acknowledged the tough competition ahead. Shehata expressed his happiness at scoring the winning goal and credited the overall team effort in securing the crucial victory.

In their next match, Al Rayyan will face Iran’s Persepolis at home, aiming to improve their position in the standings. Meanwhile, Pakhtakor started the match strongly, controlling early proceedings with impressive possession. However, despite creating numerous chances, they were unable to find the back of the net. Al Rayyan goalkeeper Paulo Victor was kept busy, making crucial saves to keep his team in the game.

The match took a surprising turn in the second half when Shehata’s accidental cross turned into a stunning goal, catching Pakhtakor off guard and giving Al Rayyan the lead. This unexpected goal boosted Al Rayyan’s confidence, leading to a stronger performance in the second half. Despite late attempts from Pakhtakor to equalize, Victor’s solid goalkeeping ensured Al Rayyan secured a hard-fought victory.

Overall, Al Rayyan’s victory against Pakhtakor showcased their determination and resilience in the face of tough competition. The crucial win has reignited their hopes for advancing to the knockout stage, with every point now becoming vital in the remaining matches. As they look ahead to their next fixture, Al Rayyan will be focused on maintaining their momentum and continuing to climb the standings in pursuit of their goal.
