Al Markhiya is set to face off against Al Shahania in a crucial play-off match to determine which team will qualify for the First Division league in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. The game will take place at the Al Thumama Stadium with kick-off scheduled for 7pm. This match holds great significance for both teams, as the victorious side will secure a spot in the top league while the losing team will be relegated to the Second Division.

Al Markhiya, who finished 11th in the Expo Stars League standings, will be looking to carry their momentum from the end of the season into this play-off match. With 18 points to their name, they managed to avoid direct relegation to the Second Division, unlike the 12th-placed Muaither. Head coach Madjid Bougherra is confident in his team’s abilities and sees this match as a major final that requires a full team effort to emerge victorious.

On the other hand, Al Shahania, led by coach Alvaro Mejia, finished second in the Second Division championship and are eager to secure promotion to the First Division. Mejia acknowledges the strengths of Al Markhiya but is determined to lead his team to victory in this crucial play-off encounter. He views this match as a great opportunity for Al Shahania to break into the top league and is prepared for the challenge that lies ahead.

Bougherra highlighted the importance of staying focused in such high-pressure matches, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of play-off games. He expressed respect for Al Shahania’s performance in the Second Division and is aware of the threat they pose. With key players such as Bashar Resan, Driss Fettohi, Yusupha Njie, Louay Ashour, and Talal Ali in the squad, Al Markhiya aims to put up a strong fight against their opponents.

Meanwhile, Al Shahania will rely on their standout performers such as Alhassan Koroma, Abdulrahman Masaad, and Abdulaziz Al Yahri to deliver a winning performance in the play-off match. Both teams are well-prepared and motivated to secure a spot in the prestigious First Division league for the upcoming season. The outcome of this match will determine the fate of these two teams, with the winner celebrating promotion while the loser faces relegation to the Second Division. Stay tuned for an exciting showdown between Al Markhiya and Al Shahania as they battle for a place in the top flight of Qatari football.
