The Al Jazeera Media Institute recently wrapped up its inaugural summer camp, “I’lam”, which provided media training to 173 students in Qatar. The camp featured thirteen intensive programs led by a team of expert trainers from the Institute. The aim of the camp was to enhance media literacy among young people and stress the importance of communication in today’s world.

Iman Al Ameri, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute, emphasized the significance of deepening young people’s awareness of media literacy and the impact of communication on society. The camp had 88 male and 85 female participants, with 117 of them being Qatari. Al Ameri praised the commitment of the participants to developing their talents and investing time in educational and personal growth.

The Director believes that fostering a spirit of partnership among young people is crucial in building a generation that can contribute to the progress and advancement of society. The camp included practical exercises covering various aspects of media, such as voice development, dialogue management, podcast creation, mobile photography, and public speaking. There was also a special course for individuals appearing regularly in the media, focusing on the role of an official spokesperson.

The Al Jazeera Media Institute’s summer camp not only provided valuable training in media skills but also instilled a sense of responsibility and commitment to personal development in the young participants. The camp aimed to empower young people to become informed and engaged citizens who can contribute positively to their communities.

Through the summer camp, the Al Jazeera Media Institute sought to nurture a new generation of media professionals who understand the power of communication and the role of the media in shaping public opinion. The participants were encouraged to hone their skills and talents, preparing them to take on leadership roles in the media industry and beyond.

Overall, the success of the summer camp reflects the Institute’s dedication to fostering media literacy and cultivating future leaders in the field of communication. By providing hands-on training and guidance from industry experts, the camp has equipped young people with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the fast-paced world of media and communication.
