Al Jaber, Al Suwaidi and Al Thani excel as Longines Hathab commences

The opening leg of the 8th edition of the Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour 2024-2025 took place at Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation’s indoor arena, showcasing thrilling equestrian action. Mohammed Yousef Al Jaber emerged victorious in the Small Tour category, riding Serendipity to clock a perfect 45.14 seconds. The series comprises a total of 14 rounds continuing until May 2025, with the best seven results being considered for overall champions in showjumping and dressage categories. Al Jaber’s impressive performance was closely followed by Abdulla Hasan Al Emadi and Saeed Hamad Jumaa.

In the Future Riders 80cm event, Abdulla Khalifa Al Suwaidi and Fiero secured the top spot for 12 to 16-year-olds, while Ahmed Mahmoud Alarroqui and Mohammed Salem Al Naemi claimed second and third places respectively. The opening day saw Fahad bin Nasser Al Thani clinching victory in the Future Riders 60cm event for 6 to 12-year-olds, riding Sita to a winning time of 42.46 seconds. Nasser Hamad Al Thani and Hissa Al Al Jaber also showcased their skills in this category.

As the competition continues, riders in the Amateur and Medium Tour categories will make their mark in the upcoming rounds of the series. Dressage competitions are scheduled to begin alongside the first rounds of Open Class and Big Tour. The Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) President, Badr Al Darwish, presented awards to the podium winners, acknowledging their outstanding performances and dedication to the sport.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, Sheikh Ahmed bin Nooh Al Thani, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the tournament, expressed his enthusiasm for the intensive program planned for Hathab this year. He emphasized the federation’s commitment to nurturing young riders, enhancing their skills, and preparing them for international tournaments. This season of Hathab is poised to attract a larger number of participants, reflecting the growing interest and talent in equestrian sports in Qatar.

The start of the eighth season of Longines Hathab Qatar Equestrian Tour marks the culmination of meticulous planning and collaboration among various stakeholders. With the support of the Qatar Equestrian & Modern Pentathlon Federation, riders are gearing up to compete at their desired levels and achieve their goals in the upcoming competitions. Sheikh Ahmed bin Nooh Al Thani anticipates an exceptional season filled with exciting competitions, urging all riders to give their best and strive for excellence in every round. The tournament serves as a platform for riders to showcase their skills and dedication to the sport, setting the stage for a successful and memorable season ahead.
