Al Ghadeer impresses once more in Qatar International Stakes

Al Ghadeer, owned by Al Shaqab Racing, secured victory in the Gr1/PA contest for Purebred Arabians at the Qatar International Stakes event in Doha for the second consecutive year. Under the guidance of jockey Christophe Soumillon, Al Ghadeer took home the coveted trophy, setting the stage for a potential second successive Doha Triple Crown at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. The President of Qatar Olympic Committee, H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, presented the trophy to H E Sheikh Hamad bin Joaan Al Thani, representing Al Shaqab Racing, in recognition of their remarkable achievement.

In a remarkable display of skill and performance, Al Ghadeer, a seven-time Gr.1 (PA) winner, made a winning return to the track under the training of Francois Rohaut. The five-year-old colt, sired by Al Mourtajez and out of Gharra’a, showcased his dominance in the Qatar International Stakes, overcoming fierce competition to claim victory. Christophe Soumillon expertly guided Al Ghadeer to victory, with the Purebred Arabian colt effortlessly maintaining his position throughout the race and eventually crossing the finish line ahead of the pack.

Al Shaqab Racing’s success continued with their companion horse, Al Wakrah, securing a commendable second place in the Qatar International Stakes, solidifying their dominance in the event. The impressive performance of Al Ghadeer marked a triumphant moment for both the owner and jockey, showcasing the strength and talent of Purebred Arabians in the racing world. The presence of notable dignitaries and ambassadors added to the grandeur of the occasion, with prestigious trophies being presented to the victorious team.

Notable Speech, representing Godolphin, emerged victorious in the Gr1 Qatar Sussex Stakes, adding another feather to their cap in the world of horse racing. Trained by Charlie Appleby and ridden by William Buick, the talented colt demonstrated his prowess on the track, outperforming the competition and claiming the £1,000,000 contest at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. The win marked a significant milestone for Godolphin, as Notable Speech showcased his dual Gr.1 winning abilities in a thrilling race.

The Qatar victories continued with Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Anoud and Wathnan Racing’s French Duke securing wins in their respective races at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. The impressive performances of these horses, under the guidance of their trainers and jockeys, highlighted the exceptional talent and dedication of all those involved in the world of horse racing. The presence of esteemed guests and officials added to the prestige of the event, reinforcing Qatar’s strong presence in the international racing circuit.
