NMDC Group has been awarded a contract worth over $200 million by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) for marine dredging works in the Ruwais LNG Project. This project is significant as it is the first LNG export facility in the Middle East and Africa to use clean energy. The contract involves removing approximately 15 million cubic meters of material across a 5-km channel, along with installing navigational aids for safe maritime access to the new LNG facility. The project is located in Al Ruwais Industrial City in Abu Dhabi and features two liquefaction trains with a capacity of 9.6 million metric tonnes per annum, powered by renewable energy.

Yasser Zaghloul, NMDC Group CEO, highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability and dedication to delivering complex marine infrastructure projects. NMDC’s expertise in executing large-scale dredging operations, combined with their innovative approach and technical expertise, will play a crucial role in bringing the low-carbon LNG facility to fruition. Niels de Bruijn, NMDC Dredging & Marine CEO, expressed his team’s dedication to supporting the UAE’s vision of becoming a global leader in low-carbon LNG production, emphasizing the significance of this project in achieving that goal.

The partnership between NMDC Group and Adnoc has been further strengthened with this contract, showcasing NMDC’s exceptional capabilities in the energy sector. This collaboration aligns with NMDC’s corporate values of sustainability and environmental responsibility, ensuring that the project will be executed with the highest standards of safety and quality. The innovative solutions and state-of-the-art fleet of NMDC will contribute to the successful delivery of the project, marking a significant step towards achieving the UAE’s goals in the global energy landscape.

In addition to the marine dredging contract, NMDC Energy, a subsidiary of NMDC Group, in collaboration with Technip Energies, was also awarded a $5.5 billion contract by Adnoc for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the LNG Growth Project. This further solidifies NMDC’s position as a key player in the energy sector and their commitment to supporting Adnoc’s vision of sustainable energy production. The combination of NMDC’s expertise in marine infrastructure projects and the use of clean energy in the Ruwais LNG Project underscores their dedication to advancing vital energy projects globally.
