James Darren, best known for his roles in iconic films like Gidget and The Time Tunnel, as well as his successful music career, has sadly passed away at the age of 88. The news of Darren’s death was shared by his close friend, Nancy Sinatra, on Instagram, where she paid a heartfelt tribute to him. She also remembered Darren as the godfather to her daughter and expressed her deepest condolences to his family. Actor Alec Baldwin also shared his condolences on social media, posting a black-and-white photograph of Darren with a touching message.

Darren’s son, Jim Moret, confirmed that his father passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after being admitted to the hospital’s cardiac unit. Despite efforts to improve his health with a surgical aorta valve replacement, Darren was deemed too weak and peacefully passed away in his sleep. Born in Philadelphia in 1936, Darren began his acting career under the guidance of renowned acting coach Stella Adler. He gained recognition for his role as Moondoggie in the Gidget films and expanded his career into music in the mid-1960s with hits like Goodbye Cruel World and Her Royal Majesty.

Throughout his career, Darren showcased his versatility by transitioning between acting, music, and television directing. His role as Vic Fontaine in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine highlighted his musical talents, while appearances in popular series like The Time Tunnel and T.J. Hooker solidified his status as a beloved actor. William Shatner, Darren’s co-star in T.J. Hooker, reflected on his passing with fond memories of their time working together. In his later years, Darren ventured into television directing, leaving behind a legacy of work on shows like Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210.

James Darren is survived by his wife, Evy, his sons, and five grandchildren. His passing marks the end of an era for fans who grew up watching his performances on the big and small screens. His legacy as a talented actor, musician, and director will continue to be remembered and celebrated by those who were touched by his work. The outpouring of condolences and tributes from his friends, co-stars, and fans speaks volumes about the impact he had on the entertainment industry and the lives of those who knew him personally. James Darren’s contributions to film, music, and television will forever be cherished by generations to come.
