Bill Cobbs, the veteran American actor known for his roles in various movies and TV shows, has passed away at the age of 90 due to natural causes at his home in Riverside. Cobbs was born on June 16, 1934, in Cleveland, and he had a successful career in Hollywood with memorable performances in films like The Bodyguard, Ghosts of Mississippi, That Thing You Do!, and Oz the Great and Powerful. He also appeared in popular TV shows such as The Slap Maxwell Story, The Drew Carey Show, The Gregory Hines Show, and Star Trek: Enterprise.

One of Cobbs’ notable roles was Moses in the Coen brothers’ film The Hudsucker Proxy, where he played a mystical clockman with the power to freeze time. He also portrayed Reginald, a security guard on the verge of retirement, in Night at the Museum, and had supporting roles in Disney’s Air Bud and Rob Reiner’s Ghosts of Mississippi. Cobbs’ versatility as an actor allowed him to take on a wide range of characters, from a jazz pianist to a basketball coach, showcasing his talent and depth as a performer.

Following his successful film and TV career, Cobbs made a guest appearance in the two-part series finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D in 2020, highlighting his enduring popularity and relevance in the industry. Cobbs’ journey to Hollywood began after serving in the US Air Force and trying his hand at stand-up comedy.
