The launch of a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) academy in Abu Dhabi aims to enhance the skills of healthcare professionals through tailored courses and training sessions. The goal is to create an AI-trained workforce that can improve diagnostic accuracy and operational efficiency, leading to better patient care and streamlined healthcare processes. The academy will offer various courses focused on advancing AI in healthcare and will conduct mass training sessions for up to 100 attendees.

Selected participants from these training sessions will have the opportunity to pursue customized courses based on their specific line of work, covering essential subjects such as AI for radiology, cardiology, as well as advanced data analytics and prediction techniques. Tailored educational programs will also target C-suite and operational staff, focusing on AI in public health leadership. The project aims to strengthen Abu Dhabi’s position as a leader in technology-enabled and data-driven healthcare systems.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) signed a memorandum of understanding with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI) and Core42 during the Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week to launch the Global AI Healthcare Academy. Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH – Abu Dhabi, emphasized the importance of empowering the workforce with the latest AI technologies to achieve milestones in diagnostics and personalized medical management, shifting towards proactive care and accelerating the future of healthcare and life sciences.

The academy’s contribution expands beyond local healthcare systems, aiming to enhance medical research and treatment modalities worldwide by upskilling the healthcare workforce. By embracing AI-driven technologies, professionals can stay at the forefront of innovation, fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange. This interconnected approach accelerates the pace of medical breakthroughs, ultimately leading to improved healthcare outcomes for communities. Sultan Al Hajji, vice president at MBZUAI, highlighted AI’s transformative potential across various diagnostic and treatment areas, emphasizing the importance of becoming a global hub for AI and life sciences.

The academy’s collaboration with MBZUAI’s Institute of Digital Public Health will encompass research and innovation, pushing the boundaries of knowledge and fostering groundbreaking discoveries. These efforts will encourage public-private partnerships, securing ample funding for ongoing sustainability. By fostering a collaborative environment, the academy aims to accelerate the pace of medical advancements and improve healthcare outcomes globally. With its focus on AI in healthcare, the academy will play a crucial role in shaping the future of healthcare and life sciences in Abu Dhabi and beyond.
