A new taxi booking service has been launched in Abu Dhabi in partnership with the international ride-hailing smart application Yango, Abu Dhabi Mobility announced. This new service allows passengers in the emirate to book public and private taxis, as well as licensed private vehicles. During the trial phase, over 300 taxis operated within the emirate, and more than 8,000 trips were completed through the Yango app in the last 5 months. The Yango mobile app now has over 1,500 registered taxis and is available for free download in iOS and Android in multiple languages. Users can easily book a taxi by specifying their destination, and the app will locate the nearest driver who will arrive promptly.

One of the key features of the Yango service is the ability for drivers to return lost items to passengers. To protect personal belongings found in taxis during a ride, drivers are encouraged to return the items to their rightful owners or the nearest police station. Drivers are responsible for documenting all information related to these belongings and providing it to Abu Dhabi Mobility upon request. Commuters in Abu Dhabi can also book a taxi through the Abu Dhabi Taxi app or by dialling 600535353. Yango is a part of the global tech company Yango Group and specializes in daily transport and logistics.

Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), emphasized the benefits of offering taxi services through international apps. The integration of these apps enhances the overall efficiency of taxi operations, making it easier for members of the community to locate vehicles and book rides electronically. This initiative connects public and private taxis, as well as licensed private vehicles, with passengers in the emirate through secure electronic communication platforms. It also supports the emirate’s goals of reducing its carbon footprint by improving the operational efficiency of taxis and transport systems overall. Islam Abdul Karim, General Manager of Yango GCC, expressed excitement about the launch of Yango in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the partnership with Abu Dhabi Mobility as a step towards enhancing urban mobility and providing a seamless transportation experience for residents and tourists.

Overall, the introduction of the Yango taxi booking service in Abu Dhabi signifies a step towards modernizing and improving the efficiency of the emirate’s transportation system. By partnering with an international ride-hailing app, passengers now have access to a wide range of taxis and private vehicles, making it easier to book rides through a user-friendly mobile app. The focus on returning lost items to passengers also adds a layer of security and convenience for travelers. With the growing popularity of ride-hailing services, the collaboration between Abu Dhabi Mobility and Yango promises to enhance the overall transportation experience in the emirate. Travelers in Abu Dhabi can look forward to a more seamless and efficient taxi booking process, thanks to the innovative technology and advanced infrastructure brought by Yango.
