Nizwa Hosts Prestigious Royal Oman Police Day Ceremony

The Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa served as the impressive backdrop for the annual Royal Oman Police Day festivities. The ceremony wasn’t just a celebration of the ROP’s past accomplishments, but also a demonstration of its future readiness. Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili’s presence emphasized the importance of the ROP’s work to the nation and its leadership.

Graduation of Diverse Officer Cadets

A key highlight of the day was the graduation of four distinct batches of officer cadets. These included the 58th batch of specialized officer cadets, the 57th batch of university officer cadets, the 12th batch of service-system officer cadets, and those completing the officer skills qualification and development course. This diverse intake reflects the ROP’s broad range of responsibilities and the need for specialized expertise.

Graduates represented a wide spectrum of academic backgrounds and future roles within the force. Specializations ranged from highly technical fields like aviation engineering, maritime navigation, and cybersecurity, to crucial areas such as criminology and criminal justice. Notably, some graduates also hold diplomas from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), demonstrating a commitment to well-rounded officer development.

Showcasing ROP Capabilities and Traditions

The ceremony was steeped in tradition and showcased the professionalism of the ROP. The event began with a formal military salute to the chief guest, followed by a meticulous inspection of the parade. The graduates then executed a precise military march past the main dais, demonstrating discipline and unity.

Awards were presented to the top-performing graduates, recognizing their dedication and excellence. The symbolic handover of the banner of the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences, from the outgoing 57th batch to the incoming 48th batch, represented a continuation of knowledge and responsibility. The graduates then passionately recited the ROP anthem, “Humaat Al Haqq,” and pledged their allegiance to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, with a resounding triple chant of “Long Live.”

Adding to the spectacle, the ROP Cavalry performed a mounted parade, and the Royal Oman Police Band provided a stirring musical accompaniment. These elements underscored the rich heritage and cultural significance of the police force within Oman.

Recognizing Excellence: ROP Awards for 2025

The celebration also served as a platform to acknowledge outstanding performance across various ROP departments. The winners of the Royal Oman Police Awards for 2025 were announced, highlighting initiatives focused on safety, security, and innovation.
