The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in Oman is set to benefit from substantial improvements to its primary healthcare infrastructure. Recent updates from the Ministry of Health (MOH) indicate significant progress in the construction of the new Ibra Health Centre and Al Mudhaibi Health Centre, both crucial facilities designed to enhance access to medical services for residents. With an impressive completion rate of approximately 85 percent, both centers are on track for opening by the end of March 2026, representing a major step forward in Oman’s healthcare development.

Progress on the Ibra Health Centre and Al Mudhaibi Health Centre Projects

The ongoing development of these health centers demonstrates the Omani government’s commitment to bolstering healthcare provision across all governorates. Eng. Yousuf Yaqoob Ambuali, Director General of Projects and Engineering Services at the Ministry of Health, confirmed to the Oman News Agency (ONA) that work is proceeding smoothly, adhering to stringent technical specifications and health standards. This dedication to quality ensures that the facilities will be equipped to deliver comprehensive, modern medical care when they become operational.

Project Details: Size and Cost

The Ibra Health Centre is a substantial project, being built on a sprawling 39,692 square meter plot. The built-up area itself will cover 13,770 square meters, with a total project cost of OMR1,157,588. Meanwhile, the Al Mudhaibi Health Centre, though smaller in scale, remains a significant investment in local healthcare. It’s being constructed on 24,827 square meters of land with a built-up area of 1,458.90 square meters, at a cost of OMR1,120,000.

Integrated Health Services Offered

These aren’t simply replacements for existing facilities; they’re designed as comprehensive, integrated healthcare hubs. Both centers will feature a wide array of services aimed at addressing the diverse medical needs of the local population. A key component will be 14 outpatient clinics, providing essential general medical care. Specialized services aren’t overlooked, with dedicated spaces for dental treatment and physiotherapy.

Diagnostic capabilities will also be significantly enhanced with the inclusion of an X-ray room and a fully equipped laboratory. Emergency preparedness is addressed through the provision of two triage rooms for initial assessments and a small treatment hall with two beds, alongside an observation hall, also with two beds. Supporting these clinical areas will be vital infrastructure like a pharmacy, a sterilization room, a meeting hall for staff training and consultations, administrative offices, and ample storage space. Thoughtful design also extends to essential facilities such as rooms for electrical systems, networks, cleaning, and public services, ensuring smooth operation and patient comfort. Finally, comfortable and well-equipped waiting halls will provide a welcoming environment for visitors.

Impact on North Al Sharqiyah Healthcare Access

The completion of the Ibra Health Centre and the Al Mudhaibi Health Centre will have a transformative impact on healthcare accessibility in the region. Currently, residents of Ibra and Al Mudhaibi may face challenges in receiving timely and convenient primary healthcare. These new centers will alleviate pressure on existing hospitals and clinics in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, reducing wait times and improving the overall quality of care.

The improved access to services is particularly important for preventative care and early diagnosis. With more readily available facilities, residents will be encouraged to seek regular check-ups and screenings, leading to better health outcomes in the long run. This proactive approach to healthcare aligns perfectly with the broader goals of Oman’s health strategy.

Alignment with Oman Vision 2040

This ambitious construction project is not occurring in isolation. The development of these health centers is intrinsically linked to the objectives outlined in “Oman Vision 2040,” a national plan focused on sustainable development and improving the quality of life for all citizens. A core pillar of Oman Vision 2040 is the modernization and expansion of the healthcare sector. The creation of well-equipped, accessible primary healthcare facilities like those in Ibra Health Centre and Al Mudhaibi is a direct contribution to realizing this vision. Healthcare infrastructure is a crucial element of a thriving nation and strong community welfare.

The investment also fosters local economic growth through the creation of employment opportunities during construction and, subsequently, within the health centers themselves. Furthermore, improved healthcare contributes to a healthier and more productive workforce, driving overall economic prosperity. The emphasis on primary care facilities demonstrates a commitment to preventative health measures and building resilient communities prepared for future health challenges.

Looking Ahead: Completion and Community Benefit

As the completion date of the end of March 2026 draws closer, anticipation is building within the communities of Ibra and Al Mudhaibi. The Ministry of Health’s continuous monitoring and commitment to upholding the highest standards guarantee that these centers will be ready to serve their intended purpose effectively. The Ibra Health Centre and Al Mudhaibi Health Centre represent a significant investment in the well-being of the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate’s residents, promising enhanced access to quality healthcare and a brighter, healthier future for all.
