Doha, Qatar – Qatar Foundation’s Academic Bridge Program (ABP) is bolstering student preparation for higher education through its newly launched “Inspirational Lectures Series.” The program, a key component of Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, aims to connect students with prominent leaders and provide insights into academic and professional pathways. This initiative underscores the ABP’s commitment to fostering well-rounded students ready for success at university and beyond.

The series, initiated during the current academic year, has already featured several high-profile guests from Qatar’s government and academic institutions. These lectures are designed to offer direct engagement between students and experienced professionals, enriching their educational experience and broadening their understanding of future opportunities. The program is based in Doha and serves students transitioning to higher education.

Strengthening University Readiness Through Leadership Insights

The core objective of the Inspirational Lectures Series is to enhance the Academic Bridge Program’s existing curriculum by providing real-world perspectives. According to Qatar Foundation, the ABP focuses on developing students’ academic skills and confidence before they begin their undergraduate studies. The lecture series complements this by exposing students to diverse career trajectories and the challenges and rewards associated with leadership roles.

One notable speaker was His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change. Dr. Al Subaie shared details of his extensive career spanning over three decades, offering advice on navigating professional development. His presentation aimed to inspire students to consider long-term career goals and the importance of continuous learning.

Ministry Support for Higher Education

Dr. Hareb Mohammed Al Jabri, Assistant Undersecretary for Higher Education Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, also participated in the series. He presented information on the various scholarship programs offered by the ministry to support Qatari students pursuing higher education both domestically and internationally.

The visit also included a recognition ceremony for outstanding ABP students who have successfully secured ministry scholarships. This acknowledgment highlights the program’s effectiveness in preparing students for competitive scholarship opportunities.

Georgetown University in Qatar Offers Guidance

Professor Safwan Masri, Dean of Georgetown University in Qatar, led an interactive discussion focused on the transition to university life. He addressed common challenges faced by students and provided strategies for academic success. Prof. Masri also detailed the academic programs available at Georgetown, aiming to inform students about potential areas of study.

The session allowed students to directly ask questions about university admissions requirements and the skills valued by Georgetown faculty. This direct interaction is intended to demystify the university application process and empower students to make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits. The focus on undergraduate programs was particularly helpful for ABP students.

The ABP’s initiative aligns with Qatar’s broader national vision to invest in education and develop a highly skilled workforce. By providing access to influential leaders and practical guidance, the program aims to cultivate a generation of Qatari professionals equipped to contribute to the country’s continued growth and diversification. The program also supports Qatar Foundation’s overall mission to build a knowledge-based society.

Looking ahead, the Academic Bridge Program plans to continue the Inspirational Lectures Series with a diverse range of speakers throughout the academic year. The selection of future guests will likely focus on fields relevant to Qatar’s strategic priorities, such as STEM, sustainability, and international affairs. The program’s success will be measured by student feedback and their subsequent performance in university, as well as the number of students successfully applying for and receiving scholarships.
