Doha, Qatar – The second round of the Qatar Drag Race Championship (QDRC) concluded successfully at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC) drag strip, showcasing intense competition among racers from Qatar, the Gulf region, and beyond. Four champions from the opening round retained their titles, while four new racers claimed victory in their respective categories during the event held under the patronage of QRC Chairman, H E Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani. The Qatar Drag Race Championship continues to draw significant participation and excitement within the motorsport community.

The competition, which took place recently, featured a diverse range of vehicle classes and skill levels. According to the QRC, the event saw a strong turnout of both seasoned professionals and emerging talents, contributing to a dynamic and engaging racing experience. Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid Al Thani, QRC General Manager, presented the awards to the top three finishers in each category.

Defending Champions Maintain Momentum in Qatar Drag Race Championship

Several racers demonstrated consistency and skill by securing their second consecutive wins. Ahmed Hassan triumphed in the Index 10.00 category, followed by Ahmed Al-Emadi and Ali Al-Johani. Mustafa Atat continued his dominance in Index 8.50, defeating Adel Ghanem, with Mohammed Zaman rounding out the podium.

Rashid Al-Baloushi also secured a second straight victory in the Super Street category, besting Bader Al-Sharshani. Milos Pavlovic achieved his first podium finish in this class, taking third place. Abdullah Al-Ansari proved unstoppable in the bike competitions, winning the Index 8.50 category after a final race against Abdulwahab Bu Qamaz, while Hassan Al-Mezdi secured third.

New Faces Emerge as Champions

While some racers maintained their winning streak, the second round also saw the crowning of several new champions. Abdullah Al-Ansari was the most successful competitor overall, securing two titles – in the INDEX 8.50 (motorcycles) and the Street Bike categories. He defeated Mohammed Al-Salem for the Street Bike title, with Abdulwahab Bu Qamaz finishing third.

Majed Al-Sharshani claimed his first championship title in the Index 9.00 (cars) category, defeating Mohammed Khawari, who was a runner-up for the second consecutive round. Mohammed Zaman took third place in this category. The event also highlighted the growing popularity of motorsport in Qatar.

In the 1/8 mile car index categories, Saeed Al-Baloushi bounced back from a previous final loss to win the INDEX 4.80 category, defeating Mohammed Al-Furaih. Ahmed Afseesi finished third. Ibrahim Abbas Ibrahim secured victory in the Index 4.50 category, beating Jaber Al-Maghribi, while Basil Abbas repeated his third-place finish from the previous round.

Looking Ahead: Qualifying for Round Three

The conclusion of the second round sets the stage for the third installment of the drag racing competition. Qualifying sessions for the next round are scheduled to begin tomorrow, promising another exciting display of speed and skill. The QRC will likely continue to attract a diverse field of competitors, contributing to the ongoing growth of automotive sports in the region.

The series standings will be updated after the completion of the qualifying rounds, influencing the championship race as it progresses. Observers will be watching to see if the newly crowned champions can maintain their momentum, and if any further surprises unfold. The next round is expected to continue to build on the success of the first two, and further solidify the QDRC’s position as a premier racing event.
