The Kingdom of Bahrain has launched passenger ferry services between Bahrain and Qatar, marking a significant development in regional connectivity and trade. The Cabinet welcomed the launch, emphasizing its role in strengthening tourism, commercial trade, and regional ties. A report submitted by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications highlighted the development, prompting His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to direct that the ferry route be fully utilized.

## Enhancing Regional Connectivity

The introduction of the passenger ferry service is expected to boost tourism and trade between the two countries. The ferry route will facilitate the transport of passengers, vehicles, and commercial cargo, enhancing regional connectivity and fostering economic growth. However, the Cabinet also instructed the Ministry to continue monitoring and advancing the implementation plans for the Bahrain–Qatar Causeway project, a significant infrastructure development that will further strengthen bilateral ties.

## Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The Cabinet highlighted the significance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s recent state visit to Malaysia, noting that discussions with His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar further strengthened bilateral ties and cooperation across multiple sectors. Meanwhile, the launch of the King Hamad Lecture for Neutral Justice was also commended, which brought together judges, government officials, and international legal experts to explore innovations in cross-border dispute resolution and Bahrain’s ambitions to become a regional hub for commercial justice.

### Advancements in Cross-Border Dispute Resolution

The King Hamad Lecture for Neutral Justice is a significant step towards establishing Bahrain as a center for commercial justice. The event, attended by His Royal Highness on behalf of His Majesty, showcased the Kingdom’s commitment to providing innovative solutions for cross-border dispute resolution. Additionally, the outcomes of the third Arab International Cybersecurity Conference and Exhibition (AICS 2025) were also underscored, with Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa inaugurating the event on behalf of the Crown Prince, reaffirming Bahrain’s commitment to global cybersecurity cooperation.

## Promoting Economic Growth and International Prominence

The Cabinet expressed appreciation for the authorities behind the success of major events, including the Royal Bahrain Concours and the Bapco Energies 8 Hours of Bahrain, highlighting the Kingdom’s growing international prominence in motorsports. Furthermore, the inauguration of the second phase of the Avenues – Bahrain expansion was welcomed, reinforcing the mall’s position as a premier shopping and entertainment destination. The Cabinet also approved several key memorandums, including Bahrain’s accession to the Locarno Agreement on industrial designs and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Higher Education Council and QS Quacquarelli Symonds (UK).

### Fostering Cooperation and Development

The approval of these memorandums is expected to foster cooperation and development in various sectors, including education and industry. The Locarno Agreement on industrial designs will provide a framework for protecting intellectual property rights, while the Memorandum of Understanding with QS Quacquarelli Symonds will enhance the quality of higher education in Bahrain.

In conclusion, the launch of passenger ferry services between Bahrain and Qatar is a significant development in regional connectivity and trade. The Cabinet’s emphasis on utilizing the ferry route and advancing the Bahrain–Qatar Causeway project underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting economic growth. As Bahrain continues to host major events and foster international cooperation, its growing prominence on the global stage is evident. With its strategic location and commitment to innovation, Bahrain is poised to become a hub for trade, tourism, and commerce in the region. The Kingdom’s efforts to enhance regional connectivity, promote economic growth, and foster cooperation and development are expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy and its people.
