Qatar Museums and Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post) have launched a commemorative stamp collection to mark the 50th anniversary of the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ). The special collection was unveiled at a ceremony held at the NMoQ in Doha, Qatar.

The National Museum of Qatar commemorative stamp collection celebrates the museum’s five decades as a cultural landmark and guardian of Qatar’s collective memory. This initiative brings together Qatar Post’s legacy and the NMoQ’s iconic heritage, serving as a tribute to Qatar’s journey.

Commemorative Stamp Collection

The exclusive collection includes seven artistic postage stamps, a commemorative card, and four postcards, meticulously produced by the renowned Decliq Printing, France. The stamps are now available to the public across all Qatar Post branches.

Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Museums, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that it celebrates Qatar’s identity, heritage, and aspirations. The commemorative stamp collection represents a milestone in Qatar’s cultural journey and a testament to the NMoQ’s enduring role.

National Museum of Qatar’s Cultural Significance

The National Museum of Qatar has played a vital role in preserving Qatar’s cultural heritage over the past 50 years. According to Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Post, the issuance of this commemorative stamp collection is a significant step in documenting national milestones and immortalizing Qatar’s cultural heritage. The NMoQ’s role as a cultural institution is further emphasized by its contribution to the nation’s cultural and developmental movement.

The launch of the commemorative stamp collection coincides with the 20th anniversary of Qatar Museums, which is being celebrated through the Evolution Nation campaign. This 18-month campaign, curated by Qatar Creates, highlights Qatar’s cultural journey over the past 50 years and its aspirations for the future.

As Qatar continues to evolve as a global hub for art, culture, and creativity, the National Museum of Qatar remains a cornerstone of the nation’s cultural identity. With the commemorative stamp collection now available, stamp collectors and NMoQ visitors can obtain this special collection, celebrating 50 years of the NMoQ’s contribution to Qatar’s cultural heritage.

The next step is expected to be the continued celebration of Qatar’s cultural milestones, with the Evolution Nation campaign set to continue highlighting the nation’s cultural journey. As Qatar looks to the future, its cultural institutions, including the NMoQ, are likely to remain at the forefront of the nation’s development.
