The State of Qatar and Lebanon are strengthening their cooperation ties, with Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi, meeting with Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister, HE Dr. Tarek Mitri, on Tuesday in Doha. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional developments.

During their discussion, the two officials explored ways to support and develop cooperation between the two nations, covering various areas of mutual interest, including the current situation in Lebanon. Qatar’s supportive stance towards Lebanon was reaffirmed by HE Dr. Al Khulaifi, who expressed the country’s continued solidarity with the Lebanese people.

Qatar-Lebanon Cooperation

The meeting highlighted Qatar’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Lebanon, a relationship built on shared historical and cultural bonds. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions centered on identifying opportunities to enhance cooperation in various sectors.

The Director-General of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, attended the meeting, underscoring the significance of QFFD’s role in supporting development initiatives in Lebanon. QFFD has been instrumental in providing aid to Lebanon in various areas, including infrastructure development and humanitarian assistance.

Economic and Development Cooperation

Qatar and Lebanon have a long history of economic cooperation, with Qatar being one of Lebanon’s key partners in the region. The two countries have collaborated on several projects, including infrastructure development and investment initiatives.

Bilateral Trade

Bilateral trade between Qatar and Lebanon has been steadily increasing, with both countries exploring new opportunities to enhance their economic ties. The meeting between HE Dr. Al Khulaifi and HE Dr. Mitri provided a platform to discuss ways to further boost trade and investment between the two nations.

Additionally, Qatar’s investment in Lebanon’s economy has been significant, with Qatari companies participating in various sectors, including real estate and finance. The QFFD has also played a crucial role in supporting development projects in Lebanon, focusing on areas such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Regional Developments and Future Cooperation

The discussions between the Qatari and Lebanese officials also touched on regional developments and their implications for the two countries. The State of Qatar has been a vocal supporter of Lebanon’s stability and security, and the meeting reaffirmed this commitment.

As the situation in the region continues to evolve, the cooperation between Qatar and Lebanon is expected to remain a key factor in maintaining regional stability. For more information on Qatar’s foreign policy and its relations with other countries, visit the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
