Paris Saint-Germain emerged victorious in the French Champions’ Trophy (Trophee des Champions) final against AS Monaco in Doha, Qatar, on January 5th, 2025. The match ended with a dramatic stoppage-time goal from Ousmane Dembele, securing a 1-0 win for PSG and their 13th Trophee des Champions title. The French forward received a pass from Fabian Ruiz and found the back of the net in the dying minutes of the game, sealing a well-deserved victory for the Parisian team.

Throughout the game, PSG dominated possession and control, amassing 10 shots on target compared to Monaco’s five. The Parisian side, under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique, constantly pressed for a breakthrough, with Dembele having an early chance in the third minute that was blocked. Monaco also had their opportunities, with goalkeeper Philipp Kohn making crucial saves to deny PSG’s attempts on goal.

As the first half progressed, both teams had their chances to score, with Vitinha coming close for PSG and Akliouche testing Donnarumma’s goal for Monaco. However, it was PSG who continued to push forward, with Lee Kang-In and Doue having shots on target that were saved by Kohn. The first half ended with both teams level, setting the stage for a tense and exciting second half.

The second half saw both teams upping the tempo, with Monaco growing into the game and creating opportunities to score. Ben Seghir and Minamino had shots on goal that were saved by Donnarumma, keeping PSG in the game. Despite Monaco’s resurgence, PSG remained in control of the match, with Hakimi and Dembele coming close to scoring before the decisive goal in stoppage time.

With the clock ticking down, Dembele’s late winner sparked celebrations among the PSG players and fans, as they secured their first trophy of the season. The victory showcased the team’s determination and resilience, as they overcame a tough challenge from Monaco to lift the Trophee des Champions title once again. PSG’s strong performance and Dembele’s heroics will undoubtedly be remembered as a moment of glory for the Parisian club.
