At a recent event at Qatar Foundation’s Education City High School, students took the stage to share their inspiring stories and ideas. The event, called ‘Ru’ya’, was a TEDx-style gathering where students showcased their creativity, passion, and growth. Among the speakers were Grade 12 students Almayasa Al Wadaani and Hussein Al Lami, who shared their journey of starting businesses while still in school. Al Lami emphasized that age should not be a barrier to pursuing one’s goals, stating that the time to start is now. He encouraged fellow students to not let the fear of failure hold them back, as it is all part of the learning process.

Al Wadaani also shared her experiences of facing doubts and challenges while starting a business at a young age. She highlighted how every setback and challenge served as a learning opportunity, emphasizing that entrepreneurship is not just about starting a company, but also about problem-solving and personal growth. She encouraged her peers to think creatively and push themselves to grow, noting that these skills will be valuable in any path they choose to take in the future.

Grade 11 student Aleen Okour took the stage to share her journey of overcoming her fear of public speaking. She admitted that the thought of standing on stage and potentially making mistakes was terrifying, but she realized that fear was simply a barrier that she needed to break through. Okour explained that fear often presents itself as a protective mechanism, with our brains perceiving change as a threat. She encouraged her peers to challenge the voice in their heads that tells them they are not ready, as great opportunities often lie on the other side of fear.

The event at Education City High School showcased the resilience, determination, and creativity of the students, who proved that age should not hinder one’s aspirations. By sharing their personal stories and experiences, the speakers aimed to inspire their peers to pursue their goals fearlessly and to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. The event highlighted the importance of pushing oneself out of their comfort zone and taking risks in order to achieve personal and professional success.

Through events like ‘Ru’ya’, Qatar Foundation’s Education City High School is fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and collaboration among its students. By providing a platform for students to share their ideas and experiences, the school is empowering them to think critically, problem-solve, and communicate effectively. The event served as a reminder that with determination, passion, and resilience, students can overcome any obstacles and achieve their dreams, regardless of their age or background.

Overall, the event at Qatar Foundation’s Education City High School was a testament to the potential, talent, and ambition of the students. Through their inspiring talks, the speakers encouraged their peers to break through barriers, embrace challenges, and pursue their passions with confidence. By sharing their stories of resilience and personal growth, the students demonstrated that age is not a limitation, but rather an opportunity to make a difference and create positive change in the world.
