HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, the Minister of State for International Cooperation in Qatar, held a virtual meeting with HE Philippe Lazzarini, the Commissioner-General of UNRWA. The meeting focused on the cooperation between Qatar and UNRWA, as well as the impact of the Israeli Knesset’s recent decisions on the agency’s activities in occupied Palestinian territories. There were also discussions about the challenges of delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

One of the main topics of the meeting was the Israeli Knesset’s approval of draft laws that would ban UNRWA’s activities in occupied Palestinian territories. This decision followed a previous approval of a draft law designating the agency as a terrorist organization. These moves have serious humanitarian and political repercussions, and Qatar reaffirmed its full support for UNRWA and the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Minister of State for International Cooperation reiterated Qatar’s commitment to supporting UNRWA and the Palestinian people in their struggle for their legitimate rights. Qatar’s stance is based on the belief in the importance of providing humanitarian and relief aid to those in need, especially in conflict-affected areas such as the Gaza Strip. The obstacles created by the Israeli government are hindering the delivery of aid and worsening the humanitarian situation for Palestinians living in the occupied territories.

The meeting between HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater and HE Philippe Lazzarini also touched upon various topics of common interest between Qatar and UNRWA. This reflects the longstanding partnership between the two entities and their shared commitment to addressing the needs of Palestinian refugees and promoting stability in the region. The discussions highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises and working towards peace and security in the Middle East.

Qatar’s support for UNRWA is part of its broader efforts to contribute to the development and stability of the region. The country has been a key player in humanitarian initiatives and has consistently advocated for the rights of oppressed populations, including the Palestinian people. By working closely with UNRWA and other international partners, Qatar aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by conflict and support efforts towards a just and peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In conclusion, the meeting between HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater and HE Philippe Lazzarini underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises and promoting stability in the Middle East. Qatar’s unwavering support for UNRWA and the Palestinian people reflects its commitment to upholding human rights and providing assistance to those in need. By working together, Qatar and UNRWA can continue to make a positive impact on the lives of Palestinian refugees and contribute to efforts towards a lasting peace in the region.
