Spanish actor Antonio Banderas joined fellow cast members Hugh Bonneville and Olivia Colman at the world premiere of “Paddington In Peru” in London. The third film in the hit series features Paddington going on an adventure to his South American roots, with the Browns in tow, in search of the mythical golden city of El Dorado.
The film, directed by Dougal Wilson, comes out seven years after the second movie in the live action-animation series. Bonneville reprises his role as Mr. Brown, while Banderas plays the captain of an adventure ship and Colman a singing nun. The movie is set for release in Britain on November 8 and in North America in January.
Despite the long gap between films, Bonneville expressed his joy at returning to the world of Paddington and praised the charm and mischievousness of the beloved bear. Wilson, who took over from director Paul King, hoped that fans would enjoy the new installment and see it as a fitting continuation of the series.
The success of Paddington can be attributed to his optimistic outlook on life and his ability to see the best in people, according to Wilson. The character, voiced by Ben Whishaw, was created in the late 1950s by author Michael Bond and has since become a beloved figure in children’s literature, selling over 35 million copies of the books worldwide.
The star-studded cast of “Paddington In Peru” includes Hugh Grant, who returns as the main antagonist, and Emily Mortimer, who takes over the role of Mrs. Brown. Banderas, in his role as the ship captain, adds to the adventure and excitement of Paddington’s journey through Peru in the latest installment of the popular film series.
