The Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, is set to unveil a unique exhibition titled Together We Are. The exhibition, which will run from November 1 to November 7, 2024, will showcase over 26 artworks created by children from the Cancer Hospital in Egypt. This initiative celebrates the therapeutic power of art in healthcare and highlights the cultural ties between Qatar and Egypt. The exhibition will feature paintings and drawings that reflect the creativity and resilience of children undergoing cancer treatment, telling personal stories of hope, courage, and imagination.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has played a crucial role in facilitating this cultural exchange, allowing the young artists to travel to Qatar and share their creations with an international audience. This partnership demonstrates Qatar’s commitment to strengthening cultural relations with Egypt and using art as a tool for enhancing mutual understanding and collaboration. Salem Al Aswad, Deputy Director of Learning & Outreach at the Museum of Islamic Art, expressed pride in presenting the exhibition, emphasizing the healing power of creative expression and the importance of cultural exchange in healthcare.

HE Lolwah Al Khater, Minister of State for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the comfort and connection that art can bring, noting the impact of art in people’s lives. She expressed gratitude for the collaboration between the hospital staff, Qatar Museums, and all those involved in making the delegation visit and exhibition launch possible. The State of Qatar views this event as a step towards strengthening cultural exchange and bilateral relations with Egypt. The exhibition will also include workshops and activities focusing on art therapy and creative expression for the visiting children, providing a nurturing environment for them to explore their artistic skills and process their emotions.

The exhibition, Together We Are, is expected to attract a diverse audience of art lovers, healthcare professionals, and the general public. It offers an opportunity to engage with the stories behind the artworks and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit. The exhibition serves as a reminder of how art can transcend borders, promoting healing and bringing people together in times of need. Through this initiative, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar aim to promote cultural dialogue, highlight the importance of art in emotional well-being, and foster collaboration between Qatar and Egypt.

In conclusion, the partnership between the Museum of Islamic Art and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar in presenting the Together We Are exhibition exemplifies the power of art in healthcare and cultural exchange. This initiative showcases the talents of young artists from the Cancer Hospital in Egypt and emphasizes the role of art in healing and self-expression. The exhibition, accompanied by workshops and activities for the visiting children, provides a platform for sharing their voices and stories with an international audience. Through this collaboration, Qatar and Egypt strengthen their cultural relations and promote the transformative impact of art on emotional well-being and mutual understanding.
