Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, recently spoke at the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII8) conference in Riyadh emphasizing the country’s efforts to diversify its international partnerships. He also highlighted the improving relations between Iran and Israel, as well as the strong economic partnership between the Kingdom and the United States. However, he mentioned that any future defense cooperation agreement with the US could be more complex. Prince Faisal expressed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to work with any future American president, regardless of their political affiliation.

In terms of normalization of relations with Israel, Prince Faisal made it clear that Saudi Arabia would not consider such a move without the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. He also mentioned his discussions with the Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, about the importance of avoiding any escalation in the region. Tehran assured Saudi Arabia that it is not in their interest to continue the regional escalation cycle. The dialogue between the two countries aims at maintaining relations on the right track while focusing on development rather than getting involved in regional tensions.

The foreign minister also addressed the situation in Palestine, expressing concern over the ongoing conflict in northern Gaza, which he described as a form of genocide. Saudi Arabia is actively working towards finding ways to establish a ceasefire and supports efforts for a two-state solution in the region. Prince Faisal emphasized the Palestinians’ right to self-determination and the establishment of their own state, calling for the State of Palestine to be recognized by the United Nations without delay.

Regarding Lebanon, Prince Faisal reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for the Lebanese people, stating that the solution to the crisis in the country lies within the Lebanese themselves and not external powers. He described Saudi Arabia as a major hub for renewable energy and artificial intelligence, highlighting the country’s commitment to technological advancements and sustainable development. In conclusion, Prince Faisal emphasized Saudi Arabia’s ability to deal with crises in the region and maintain stability, underscoring the importance of prioritizing dialogue and cooperation in international relations.
