In November, Qatar National Library is celebrating the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture with a range of cultural activities that showcase the rich heritage of both nations. From creative writing challenges to seminars on historical perspectives, the Library is offering a diverse lineup of events for visitors to enjoy.
The month kicks off with a creative writing challenge inspired by National Novel Writing Month, where participants will aim to write a 50,000-word novel in just one month. This challenge will bring together the Library’s English Creative Writing Circle for weekly meetings throughout November.
The Library also hosts seminars like “Western Travelers Accounts of Qatar: A Historical Perspective,” which delves into the travelogue collection to provide insights into the cultural, political, economic, and geographical history of Qatar. The event promises a unique look at the country’s past through the eyes of travelers.
Folk culture takes center stage on November 5 with a performance by the CineMoon Ensemble titled “Folk’s Beautiful Melodies.” Visitors can experience the enchanting sounds of folk music and traditional tunes in a captivating show that celebrates the rich tapestry of heritage.
On November 6, the Library collaborates with the Ministry of Public Health and Hamad Medical Corporation to host a lecture on mental health titled “Nurturing your Mental Health – What Works.” The session will explore evidence-based approaches to managing stress, anxiety, and emotional health, while providing tips on self-care and mindfulness.
As part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, the Library will host events like “The Ancient Libraries of Morocco: From Preserving Manuscripts to Beacons of Knowledge” to highlight the historical development of Moroccan libraries. Additionally, workshops and reading circles will offer insights into Moroccan culture and traditions throughout the month.
