The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture in Bahrain has introduced a new service to renew building permits through the “Benayat” electronic system. This initiative aims to simplify procedures for investors and concerned parties, allowing them to easily renew permits before they expire and extend their validity for another year. The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Engineer Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, highlighted that this new system reflects the government’s commitment to digital transformation and improving the investment environment in the kingdom.

The renewal process will be done through the applicant’s engineering office, eliminating the need for direct visits to government offices. This streamlined approach is designed to speed up procedures and reduce the time required to obtain services. The Ministry is also providing support and information to engineering offices to ensure the efficient provision of this new service. By implementing digital solutions, the government is making it easier for citizens and investors to manage their transactions effectively, ultimately enhancing transparency in government procedures.

The Chief Executive of the Information & eGovernment Authority, Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, commended the Ministry’s efforts in activating its digital transformation plan and providing services through various electronic channels. This aligns with government directives and aims to enhance the efficiency of electronic services for citizens and residents. The partnership between the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Information & eGovernment Authority strengthens the information infrastructure of the real estate and investment sector in Bahrain.

The building permit renewal service has been re-engineered to become a 100% automated electronic service, improving the user experience and eliminating the need for physical documents and approvals. The payment process has also been simplified, benefiting the real estate sector, property owners, and investors by expediting and easing the completion of transactions. The “Benayat” system, which is connected with multiple government and private entities, allows for electronic completion of building permit transactions within just two days.

Interested parties can visit the “Benayat” system’s website at www.benayat.bh for more information and details about the new service. The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture’s latest initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of services provided and simplify procedures for investors and concerned parties in Bahrain. By embracing digital transformation and implementing innovative solutions, the government is creating an environment that supports investment and economic growth in the kingdom.
