The Oman Conference on Generative Artificial Intelligence was recently held in Muscat, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology. The event, in collaboration with SAS Media Company, was themed around the “Future of Smart Economy 2024” and aimed to explore the role of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in bolstering the smart economy in Oman. The two-day conference brought together experts and specialists from both local and international backgrounds to engage in discussions on various aspects of AI and its impact on future development.

The opening ceremony of the conference was graced by Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, under whose auspices the event took place. The agenda for the conference included three main discussion sessions. The first session delved into the potential of generative artificial intelligence as a catalyst for future development, shedding light on how this technology can drive innovation across various sectors. The second session focused on the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence, exploring the implications of these cutting-edge technologies on shaping the future landscape.

Another key highlight of the conference was a session dedicated to examining the evolving business dynamics in the era of artificial intelligence. This session offered insights into how organizations can adapt and thrive in an AI-driven business environment, emphasizing the need for strategic and transformative approaches to stay ahead in a rapidly changing digital landscape. In addition to the thought-provoking discussions, the conference also featured a technical exhibition showcasing the latest products, innovations, and smart solutions by various tech companies, highlighting the advancements being made in the field of AI.

One of the highlights of the conference was the recognition of the winners of a contest titled “Engineer it with Artificial Intelligence” who were felicitated on the sidelines of the event. This contest was aimed at fostering innovation and creativity in the field of AI and recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of artificial intelligence technology. By showcasing the achievements of these talented individuals, the conference aimed to inspire others to explore the vast potential of AI and its applications in driving economic growth and technological innovation.

Overall, the Oman Conference on Generative Artificial Intelligence provided a valuable platform for experts, researchers, and industry professionals to come together and exchange ideas on the future of AI and its implications for the smart economy in Oman. Through engaging discussions, informative sessions, and interactive exhibitions, the conference served as a catalyst for fostering collaboration and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. As AI continues to revolutionize various industries and sectors, events like these play a crucial role in driving forward-thinking discussions and shaping the future of technology and economy in Oman and beyond.
