Hamad General Hospital in Doha, Qatar is set to undergo a major renovation program that will encompass a comprehensive upgrade of its systems and facilities. The hospital recently announced that Phase 1 of the renovation work is scheduled to begin in 2025, focusing on the two inpatient towers and the ground floor below them. Nayef Al Shammari, Acting Deputy Chief of Corporate Communications at Hamad Medical Corporation, provided insights into the impact of the modernization project on the services provided by the hospital.
During the three-year modernization program, which aims to enhance the patient experience, Hamad General Hospital will continue to offer quality services without compromising on standards. The first phase of the renovation work will involve upgrading the inpatient towers and relocating outpatient clinics to other hospitals within the Hamad Medical Corporation network. Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital and the Medical Care and Research Center will serve as the main facilities receiving the relocated services from Hamad General Hospital.
Despite the renovation work, a range of medical services will remain operational at Hamad General Hospital. Most outpatient clinics, the Surgical Specialty Center offering surgical and medical services, a total of 370 inpatient beds providing medical and surgical care, critical care services, the Trauma and Emergency Center, the Bone and Joint Center, the Pediatric Emergency Center, and the Fahad Bin Jassim Kidney Center will continue to function during the modernization program. The hospital aims to deliver single rooms and advanced technical systems, creating modern environments to enhance patient care.
Patients and visitors can rest assured that the quality, volume, and standards of services at Hamad General Hospital will be maintained throughout the modernization project. However, the relocation of inpatient buildings and outpatient clinics to other hospitals within the Hamad Medical Corporation network will be carried out to facilitate the renovation work. Despite these changes, the hospital remains committed to providing essential medical services to the community, ensuring that patient care continues seamlessly during and after the modernization program.
