Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently attended the 2024 Global Person-Centered Care Forum organized by Planetree International in New Orleans, USA. Planetree is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming healthcare from the perspective of patients for over 45 years. The Forum brought together professionals from the US and over 20 countries to advance person-centered care in healthcare. The Qatar delegation, led by HMC’s Nasser Al Naimi and Dr. Nidal Asaad, received the Gold Certification with Distinction for Leadership and Innovation in Person-Centered Care for the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC).

The ACC is the first of five HMC facilities undergoing recertification for excellence in PCC and the first in the region and fifth in the world to achieve this certification. Nasser Al Naimi emphasized the cultural shift towards person-centered care and the commitment to improving the healthcare experience by engaging patients, families, and staff. Ten HMC staff were recognized for achieving Fellowship in Person-Centered Care, and the Women’s Wellness and Research Center (WWRC) won the PCC Innovation Award for implementing triage-colored cards at the Emergency Department.

Additionally, HMC leaders were awarded for their contributions to advancing Person-Centered Care in Qatar. Dr. Huda Hussain Saleh and Nadya Al Rauili were recognized for their dedication to cultural transformation and humanizing the care experience. Dr. Abdulla Al Ansari, Chief Medical Officer of HMC, highlighted the organization’s commitment to PCC, aligning with Qatar’s Third National Development Strategy and the National Health Strategy 2024-2030. The achievements and recognition at the Forum showcase HMC’s dedication to implementing person-centered care practices within the organization.

The participation of HMC in the Global Person-Centered Care Forum reflects their ongoing partnership with Planetree since 2017, emphasizing the importance of cultural transformation towards person-centered healthcare. The recognition received by HMC leaders and staff at the Forum demonstrates their commitment to enhancing the healthcare experience for patients and families. The implementation of innovative practices, such as the use of triage-colored cards at WWRC, showcases HMC’s dedication to enhancing patient care and experience.

The Gold Certification with Distinction received by ACC affirms HMC’s leadership and innovation in person-centered care, setting a standard for excellence in the region and globally. The achievement highlights HMC’s dedication to improving the healthcare experience by engaging patients, families, and staff at all levels. The recognition of HMC leaders for their contributions to advancing person-centered care in Qatar further solidifies the organization’s commitment to cultural transformation and humanizing the care experience.

Overall, HMC’s participation in the Global Person-Centered Care Forum and the recognition received for their achievements in person-centered care demonstrate their dedication to transforming healthcare and improving the overall healthcare experience.
