The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) in Qatar recently organized a symposium titled “Family and the Culture of a Nation” as part of the Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024 activities. The event, held in collaboration with Qatar Museums’ Cultural Years Initiative, the Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM), and the Moroccan Embassy in Doha, brought together Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs HE Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassim Al Thani, Moroccan Embassy diplomats, as well as Qatari and Moroccan families. The symposium focused on the impact of cultural and social heritage on families and their role in the development of productive projects.
During the symposium, speakers highlighted the productive projects of entrepreneurs from Qatar and Morocco, emphasizing how culture and traditions have played a significant role in their development and sustainability. Participants shared their experiences and discussed how they benefited from cultural and social heritage within their families to enhance their businesses. The seminar also emphasized the importance of community ties and local economic growth resulting from leveraging cultural heritage in family projects.
The event also showcased the services provided by the Family Counseling Center (Wifaq), which offers guidance and counseling in developmental, social, and psychological fields, along with family reform services, parental care, community awareness, remote consultations, tests, and measurements. The symposium participants emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage due to its essential role in empowering family projects and strengthening social ties.
In addition to the discussions and presentations, an exhibition was organized featuring the projects of Qatari and Moroccan entrepreneurs participating in the “From the Homeland” initiative. This exhibition provided a platform for showcasing the diverse and innovative projects that have been developed through the fusion of cultural elements from both countries. It also served as a testament to the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of individuals who draw inspiration from their cultural heritage.
