The fourth edition of the ‘Little Employee’ initiative in Doha, Qatar, organized by Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC) under Qatar Foundation (QF) has achieved a significant milestone with over 500 children participating in the program. Launched in May and continuing until December 2024, the initiative allows children aged 7-15 to gain valuable insights into different careers by visiting their parents’ workplaces. The program has seen participation from various organizations in Qatar, including ministries, public sector entities, and private companies, demonstrating a wide range of career opportunities available in the country.

Participating organizations in the ‘Little Employee’ initiative include the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Defense, Qatar Airways, QatarEnergy LNG, Qatar Museums, and several others. The strong involvement of organizations from different sectors showcases the commitment towards providing children with a diverse and enriching experience. Saad Abdullah Al Kharji, Acting Director of QCDC, expressed pride in the progress of the initiative and emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with key institutions to prepare children for future career paths.

As schools in Qatar prepare for the October mid-term break, QCDC encourages more companies, parents, and students to participate in the ‘Little Employee’ initiative. The break provides an ideal opportunity for families to engage in the program, as children have free time and can benefit from gaining practical experiences at their parents’ workplaces. This hands-on experience not only educates children about different professions but also helps them develop early career awareness and a sense of responsibility towards their future.

The ‘Little Employee’ initiative aims to empower children by providing them with real-world experiences that will enhance their understanding of the world of work. By investing in this program, companies and families can contribute to shaping a generation that is well-informed, prepared, and equipped to face future challenges. Al Kharji highlighted the importance of encouraging children to explore different career opportunities early on, as it will help them make informed decisions about their future careers and aspirations.

With the success of the ‘Little Employee’ initiative halfway through its fourth edition, QCDC is focused on expanding the reach of the program and fostering partnerships with more organizations across various sectors. By providing children with the opportunity to explore different workplaces, the initiative aims to nurture a generation of young individuals who are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the competitive job market. The ‘Little Employee’ initiative plays a crucial role in shaping the future workforce of Qatar by instilling a sense of curiosity, ambition, and motivation in children from a young age.

In conclusion, the ‘Little Employee’ initiative in Qatar has made significant progress in engaging children in a hands-on learning experience about different careers. With the support of leading organizations in the public and private sectors, the program aims to equip children with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their future endeavors. As the initiative continues to grow, QCDC encourages more companies, parents, and students to participate and invest in the development of the next generation of talented professionals in Qatar. By fostering a culture of career awareness and exploration at a young age, the ‘Little Employee’ initiative is paving the way for a bright and successful future for the youth of Qatar.
