Qatar Foundation is currently hosting an art exhibition titled “Creative Currents” in Doha, showcasing the talented works of students aged 5 to 18 from its Pre-University Education schools. The event opened with a musical performance by Qatar Music Academy and is now open to the public at Multaqa. The exhibition highlights students’ creativity in visual arts, featuring a diverse range of paintings, artworks, and sculptures that express emotions, messages, and themes of sustainability and the environment.
One of the participants, 18-year-old Ali Othman Al Maraghi from Qatar Leadership Academy, shared his drawing titled “Palestine” which symbolizes the resilience of the Palestinian people one year after the events of October. Al-Maraghi stated that art is a universal language that transcends barriers and can address important issues. He expressed pride in participating in the exhibition and credited his school for providing the tools and guidance needed to develop his artistic skills.
Another student, 10-year-old Ahmed Al Bouainain from Qatar Academy Al Wakra, used recycled materials for his art piece, emphasizing his concern for protecting the environment. Despite it being his first time creating an art piece and participating in an exhibition, he felt proud of the final result. 13-year-old Fatima Rashid from Qatar Academy Al Wakra also shared her experience, stating that painting is like therapy for her and has helped her overcome challenges and grow as a person and an artist.
Aisha Al Sultan, the Coordinator of Performing Arts at Qatar Foundation’s Pre-University Education, emphasized the importance of encouraging students to explore their talents in various art forms. By providing opportunities for students to express themselves through visual and performing arts, they can enhance their communication skills and connect with the outside world in a more creative and impactful way. The Creative Currents exhibition will run until October 25 at the Art Gallery in Multaqa, welcoming the public to witness the students’ artistic talents.
